Okra Potato stir fry / Bendi Aloo fry

Continuing my recipes in easy to make curries and fries, here comes Bendi Aloo fry or Okra Potato stir fry.
On weekdays I alwasy keep looking for easy to make curries and not any elaborated dishes. Most of the nights we eat rice. With rice its usually soem kind of daal and another curry. I don't even like making non-veg dishes unless its very easy to make. The reason being the kids!! I am dead tired by the time pick my son from school, getting his home work done, in between taking care of the younger one so that he doesn't disturb his big brother and cutting into their fights halfway through!!...huh lots to do...
I sometimes cook in mornings, but during winter time I like cooking in the evenings, since I feel the food gets too cold if I cook in the morning. Hence the look out for easy to make curries.
My mom used to make this fry from time to time and no one ever makes a face to eat it. I make this when I have less amount of bendi to make bendi fry, then add some other veggie to it to make it a different curry.:)

Ingredients:

1/2 to 1 pound of Bendi / Okra cut into small rounds
2 small Potatoes chopped small
a sprig of curry leaves
1/4 tsp mustard seeds
1/4 tsp jeera
1 - 2 tsp chilli powder (adjust it according to your taste)
1/4 tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp garam masala ( I used homemade GM, but you can use store bought if you like)
salt to taste
1 - 2 tbsp oil
1 tbsp chopped coriander leaves

Method:

Wash Okra and cut into small rounds. Chop the washed potatoes. Heat oil in a kadai or a pan. Add the mustard seeds and jeera and let them splutter before adding the curry leaves. Add the potatoes first and salt them a little. Fry them for 3-4 min. before adding the okra. Salt it again and stir fry them. Be sure not to stir them too much, otherwise you might break the okra. But still stir fry them from time to time not letting them stick to the pan :). After a few minutes add the chilli powder, turmeric and garam masala powder and mix it well. Fry until desired color is reached and the veggies are cooked thru.
Garnish with chopped coriander.

Tip: You can include onions if you like. I usually add onions, but this time I omitted them.
